Church of St. Peter and Paul

Monasteravin, Co. Kildare

Both the restoration of the interior and the exterior of this nineteenth century gothic building were undertaken in 1997.
The facade is of Carlow limestone. The soiling was of algae and lichen, with small amounts of grime.
A mild abrasive was used to clean this resilient stone. New soiling will be restricted by the reduced moisture content of the walling material following protective leadwork and repointing.
The main west door case was reinstated, following discovery of fragments of the original.
Interior works included redecoration and new flooring.
