Commissioned to act as conservation consultants for refurbishment and new
development within the curtilage of this protected complex. The hospital occupies
the site and buildings of the Mullingar Union Workhouse built in 1841 to the
designs of George Wilkinson under the provisions of the Poor Law Act 1839.
Several of the ranges were in a derelict and ruinous condition and have since
been re-instated and refurbished. We liaised with the conservation officer
throughout these works.
