The ruinous Lady Chapel was roofed in glass and stainless steel to shelter the Doorty Cross and other medieval stone crosses and carved stones. The philosophy of intervention in this instance was to work with the ruined masonry as found, and not to reinstate or repair any masonry. The design of the stainless steel mount for the Doorty Cross is such as to allow hitherto concealed inscriptions to be viewed.
The exhibition also extends to the narthex of the main cathedral, where later mediaeval stones are displayed.
