St Canice's Cathedral

Kilkenny

Commissioned to prepare a Conservation Plan for St. Canice’s Cathedral and its close. The latter is a unique survivor in
Ireland and includes the 11th century round tower, seventeenth century library and almshouses as well as the Bishop’s
Palace and the Deanery. The preparation of the plan required a detailed study of the evolution of the site, assessment of
the condition of the buildings as well as other factors impacting on the significance of the place in advance of identifying
policies for the future management and conservation of the cathedral and its immediate environs.
