La Touche Bridge

Portobello, Dublin 8

Following on from work to the iron structure of the Ha’penny bridge, we acted as advisors to Dublin City Engineers in the conservation and repair of LaTouche Bridge, Portobello, involving careful analysis, strcutural appraisal, paint analysis and an understanding of the nature of 19th century metal construction, such as is found in Ballyfin House and in the roof of the Dargan wing at the National Gallery.
We have recently prepared a generic specification to be issued by Dublin City Council for the repair of cast and wrought Iron railings in the city: it is being applied to the substantial railings at Dr Steevens’ Hospital at present.
