Johnstown Castle
Co. Wexford
Commissioned to prepare a Conservation Plan for the Johnstown Castle estate, which contains a number of important heritage elements. These include a mansion house remodelled 1833-46 by Daniel Robertson, a highly picturesque garden with a number of fine follies and several medieval structures including a tower house and church. In addition The Irish Agricultural Museum is housed in the former stables. The preparation of the plan required a detailed study of the evolution of the castle and estate, an assessment of the condition of the building as well as other factors impacting on the significance of the place.
